Kualoa Ranch vs. Dillingham Ranch: Choosing an Oahu Ranch Wedding Venue
By the Hawaii Vendors team · 4 min read ·
Two of Oʻahu’s best-known ranch wedding venues, compared: setting, site fees, catering, lodging, and how to decide which one fits your day.

If you’re dreaming of an Oʻahu wedding with green mountains, open pastures, and room to breathe, a ranch venue belongs on your list. Kualoa Ranch and Dillingham Ranch are two of the island’s best-known options, and couples often compare them side by side. They’re both beautiful. They also feel very different. Here’s how they compare, and how to tell which one fits the wedding you’re planning.
Why choose a ranch wedding on Oʻahu?
Ranch venues give you what a beach often can’t: privacy, space for a ceremony and reception in one place, and a dramatic backdrop that doesn’t depend on the tide. You also avoid the public-beach rules and crowds that come with many shoreline ceremonies. The trade-off is travel time from Waikīkī, which is worth planning for early.
Kualoa Ranch at a glance
Kualoa Ranch spans more than 4,000 acres on Oʻahu’s windward coast, from hidden valleys to mountain ridges. Its Paliku Gardens ceremony site sits at the base of the sacred Kānehoalani peak, looking out over Kāneʻohe Bay, rolling pastures, and the iconic island of Mokoliʻi. The site includes two large lawns, an upper garden, and an open-air pavilion.
Site fee: Kualoa lists Paliku Gardens at $6,495 plus tax on weekends and $5,495 plus tax on weekdays.
Catering: Kualoa Ranch Hawaii Catering prepares food on property, minutes from your ceremony. Its pricing includes chefs, buffet equipment, buffet setup and breakdown, buffet tables and linens, and trash removal.
Tastings: Optional, at $75 per person (credited toward your event if you book), scheduled Tuesday through Friday.
Favors: KualoaGrown, the ranch’s agriculture arm, makes single-origin milk and dark chocolate from cacao grown in the ranch’s Kaʻaʻawa and Hakipuʻu valleys. It makes a memorable, truly local guest gift.

Which ranch is right for you?
Kualoa Ranch may be the better fit if you want the classic postcard backdrop of mountains meeting the ocean, you’d like catering handled on property, and your guests are staying in Waikīkī or Kailua.
Dillingham Ranch may be the better fit if you want a private, lodge-centered celebration, you like the idea of a covered indoor space ready for any weather, and you’d love to host a multi-day wedding weekend on the property.
Guest count, budget, and date availability will narrow it down quickly, so reach out to both early. Popular weekend dates at well-known venues can book more than a year ahead.
Getting your guests there
Both ranches are a drive from most hotels. Kualoa is on the windward side, and Dillingham is further out on the North Shore. Traffic on Oʻahu can be unpredictable, so many couples book a shuttle so guests don’t have to navigate unfamiliar roads after dark. Put arrival times and parking details on your wedding website.
Windward Oʻahu also sees quick passing showers. Ask about tenting and covered options for any outdoor ceremony, and build a little buffer into your photo timeline.
