This Privacy Policy explains how Lokal Media LLC (d/b/a Hawaii Vendors) (“Hawaii Vendors,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use hawaiivendors.com (the “Service”).

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and (for couples) optional details such as your wedding date and preferred island. A business account may add additional team members, whose names and emails we also collect.
Business listing information. Businesses provide listing details (name, description, photos and videos, contact info, categories, hours, pricing, and location).
Inquiries and quote requests. When you contact a vendor or submit a quote request through the Service, we collect the information you submit (name, email, phone, message, wedding date, guest count, budget, and similar details).
Messages. We store the messages you exchange with vendors (or, for businesses, with couples) through the Service so the conversation stays available in your inbox. For business accounts, this also includes messages exchanged with the Hawaii Vendors team through the dashboard messaging feature, along with any files attached to them.
Favorites and saved listings. If you save vendors or venues, we store those selections to your account.
Newsletter sign-ups. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address.
Payment information. Paid listings are billed as annual subscriptions handled by our third-party payment processor. Your card details go directly to that processor and are never collected or stored on this site; we retain only your billing contact details, subscription status, and paid-through dates.
Usage & device data. When you use the Service we automatically collect analytics about how it is used — page views, clicks, searches, inquiries, and a session identifier — along with technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, and approximate location (derived from IP). We use this to operate, secure, and improve the platform. This is collected in part through our third-party analytics provider (see “Service providers” below).

How we use information

To provide the directory, accounts, inquiries, and business dashboards.
To process subscriptions and send transactional and performance emails.
To communicate with you about your account and the Service — including messages our team sends to a business’s dashboard inbox and the email notifications that accompany them.
To send marketing email — such as our newsletter, wedding planning tips, vendor deals, and offers from partners (including honeymoon and island activity providers, some of which pay us a commission) — only to people who have opted in. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and opting out never affects your account or your inquiries.
To maintain security, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
To improve the Service through aggregate analytics.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your email address with partners for them to market to you directly — when we feature a partner offer, we send it ourselves.

Service providers

We use trusted third-party companies to help us operate the Service, and we share information with them only as needed to provide it. These include providers of:

hosting, storage, database, and authentication;
payment processing (for paid listing subscriptions);
email delivery;
product and usage analytics;
maps and location display; and
security and abuse prevention (such as rate limiting).

These providers process information only to perform services for us, under agreements that limit their use of it, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes except as described in their own privacy policies. Payment card details are handled directly by our PCI-compliant payment processor and are never stored on our systems.

Sharing your inquiries with vendors

Hawaii Vendors is a directory that connects couples with independent wedding vendors and venues. When you submit an inquiry, contact a vendor, or send a message through the Service, the information in that inquiry — such as your name, email address, phone number, wedding date, and message — is shared with the vendor(s) you contacted so they can respond to you.

If you submit a multi-vendor quote request, your request and contact details are shared with multiple matching vendors at onceso each can send you a quote. Vendors that receive your information are independent third parties, not Hawaii Vendors. Once a vendor receives your inquiry, that vendor’s own privacy practices — not this policy — govern how they use your information, and we are not responsible for their handling of it. We require vendors, by contract, to use inquiry information only to respond to your request and to comply with applicable privacy and anti-spam laws, but we do not control them.

We do not sell your personal information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising. Sharing an inquiry with the vendor you chose to contact (as described above) is done at your request to provide the service you asked for, and is not a sale of your information.

Other disclosures

We may disclose information when we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or governmental request; to enforce our Terms or investigate potential violations; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Hawaii Vendors, our users, or the public.

Business transfers. If Hawaii Vendors is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of its business or assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will require the recipient to honor this Privacy Policy or will provide notice as required by law.

We may also create and use aggregated or de-identified data (which cannot reasonably be used to identify you) for analytics, research, and improving the Service.

Cookies & tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for two purposes:

Essential cookies — authentication (keeping you signed in) and security. The Service will not work properly without these.
Analytics cookies — set by us and our analytics provider to understand how the Service is used so we can improve it.

You can control or clear cookies through your browser settings, though some features require the essential cookies to function. Because there is no industry-standard way to interpret them, we do not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information — including encryption in transit, access controls, and storing data with reputable providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Links to other sites

The Service contains links to vendor websites, social media profiles, and other third-party sites, and displays maps through a third-party maps provider. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third-party sites. Review their privacy policies before providing them information.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations. You may request deletion (see below).

California residents

If you are a California resident, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. As stated above, we do not sell your personal information. To make a request, email us at info@hawaiivendors.com; we may need to verify your identity before responding.

Your choices

You can update your profile information from your account page.
You can request access to or deletion of your personal information by emailing info@hawaiivendors.com.
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails (such as our newsletter) at any time using the unsubscribe link included in those messages, or by emailing info@hawaiivendors.com. Transactional messages (for example, a reply to an inquiry you sent, a message from our team about your business account, or an account notification) are not marketing email.

Where we operate

The Service is operated in the United States and intended for users in the United States. If you access it from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be processed in the U.S.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. Account holders must be at least 18 (see our Terms of Service).

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new date.
